What the heck is a MOD?

Way back in the late 80's the Commodore Amiga was the computer you had to have. With graphics and sound capabilities way ahead of its time, and a vast library of thousands of games, every cool kid had one*.

Unlike today's games machines however the Amiga hardware was well documented, spawning a generation of thousands of bedroom programmers, artists and musicians, many of whom worked alone, but a number of which formed into groups. Most programming groups collaborated to produce demos, quite simply demonstrations of their programming, artistic and musical skills. Over time friendships and rivalries formed, all the while the scale and quality of the demos being produced increasing.

In 1987 a German programmer by the name of Karsten Obarski created a music construction tool named the Ultimate SoundTracker. Its purpose was to allow music to be programmed in a graphical manner rather than the then standard way of writing code in a programming language. What had previously been an arduous task soon became childs play, and musicians began producing SoundTracker Modules or MODs in the thousands.

Downloading Amiga MODs:

First of all you'll need some sort of player for your computer, I recommend downloading ModPlug (either the Tracker or the Player), or the Oldsk00l MOD player plugin for Winamp.
Now download the files below, and job's a good 'un.
